Winter Trees

“A liquid moon moves gently among the long branches.
Having thus prepared their buds against a sure winter
the wise trees stand sleeping in the cold.”

This quotation is from ‘Winter Trees’ by William Carlos Williams

Restless Night

A restless night
tossing and turning,
a small boat adrift on a stormy sea.

Thousands of thoughts
around my head rolling,
sleeping and dreaming elusive to me.

Each random thought
comes blustering, billowing,
following one and leading yet more.

Wave washed and weary
I drift into morning
and find I have gently drifted ashore.

Early Morning

Lying in bed, it’s early morning,
thinking of all I need to do,
watching you sleeping.
