Bees in the Wilderness

How the bees
seem to love the wilderness
that is the bottom corner
of my garden.

How I am caught
between the need to tame,
let in the light and yet
not drive the bees away.

Somewhere between
I need to find a means
to satisfy me and still
please the bees.

Mixed Feelings

Buzz of the chainsaw felling my neighbour’s tree,
covered in ivy and past it’s time,
allowing more light to reach our garden.
Mixed feelings.

The Old Ash Tree

It’s sad to see them felling
my neighbours old ash tree,
but the light and space it generates
is almost adequate compensation,
as will be the warmth we get from burning
the wood in our stove this winter.

Alien Encounter

Melia froze. The bright light was approaching swiftly. Suddenly it slowed. A blast of hot air hit her full in the face as a large circular object settled on the ground several footpads away. Brushing her blue curly hair from her face she darted behind a clump of Anuja bushes. “Baden?” she croaked anxiously.

Two clumsy-looking figures climbed from the object – the cocoon people! Melia had heard frightening tales about them. “Here,” Baden whispered behind her, tugging her arm with his long purple fingers, yellow eyes wide. “Let’s go. Now.” Melia scampered after him, hunkered low to the ground, unseen.

Thank you all for looking in while I was away. Got back from the Isle of Man in the early hours of this morning so we are a bit travel fatigued and so no original stone just yet. I have posted another of the Blessings I intended to post while we were away. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to schedule a week’s worth before we went and the hotel internet access was not functioning so I couldn’t post while we were there. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible! I am looking forward to catching up with all your posts during my absence.
