After intense heat
today it is bearable.
It might even rain!

Survival Mode

Up before times
to water the garden
before the day heats up.
Doors and windows wide open,
letting in the early morning cool
before closing up again,
drawing the curtains and blinds
against the heat - 
survival mode.

Complaints

Today the sun sulks
behind cloud cover,
tired of our complaints.
A brief respite from the heat,
but of the drought?
No end in sight.

Rain Dance

Brown and scorched the grass,
relentless the heat and drought.
Time for a rain dance.

Wilting

Wilting
in the heat.
Tossing and turning,
unable to sleep.
