Now is the time
for catching up
with all those jobs
I’ve been meaning to do,
with all those friends
I’ve been meaning to phone
but just never found the time.

January Joy 7

Reading poetry with friends;
taking my mind off the continuing rain.

January Joy 6

Packing Christmas away, stripping the tree,
carefully wrapping each bauble,
some made by my Mum, some by me,
some gifts from absent friends;
each one holding a precious memory.

Baking treats
to take to eat
when we meet
with friends for the day
while we’re away
on our yacht.

Off to see
Roger McGough;
an evening out
with friends tonight!

Memory 5

Another year older.
I remember my sixth birthday;
my sister and I left with friends
when my grandfather died.
