January Joy 24

Happy day;
family gathering,
hubbub of conversation and games,
catching up, sharing.

Just Py

Today I met Pythagoras,
my son and family’s new puppy.
Perhaps one day he will grow
into his name, but for now
he is just Py.

Just me in an empty house.
Family scattered like leaves in the wind.
A forlorn sun attempts to smile.

It’s wonderful when family come to stay,
catching up with news and gossip all day,
but it’s wonderful too, in a different way,
how peace descends when they go away!

family reunion;
my cousin drives
from France to visit

Much to our surprise our daughter had arranged for a cousin of mine and her husband, who live in the south of France, and who we hadn’t seen for probably at least 5 years, to visit for a few days while we were in Spain. We knew nothing about it until they arrived!

This Elfje also appears today on Simply Elfje. You can read it here.

Short Break

I am taking a short break due to family commitments – if we manage to get there through this latest snow. I hope to be back on Wednesday 27th March, so I will see you again then. A post will appear as usual on Monday on my other blog, ‘Simply Elfje’.

Down South

Off down south for a family gathering.
Sleeping on the boat tonight.
By gum it’s going to be cold!

Get Together

Family get-together;
good food, good wine, good company,
reviewing old times,
catching up.

My husband’s two brothers and their wives live not all that far from where we keep our boat so we had a family day yesterday. Now the weather can clear up so we can go sailing!

Faces in old family photographs —
I wonder who they are?
No one left to ask.
