Driving my new car;
so many buttons and switches.
What do they all do?

Driving into town
stroboscopic lighting blinks my eyes;
sunlight through the hedgerows.

Driving mindfully,
watching out for ruts and bumps,
pot-holes and road signs.

Driving Home

Driving home past fields
of lingering snow and frost-iced trees;
a Winter Wonderland.

Bird of Prey

Over there, hunkered down
in the full light of day,
a bird of prey, perhaps a hawk.
Driving down the highway I
drew closer, passing by,
but all that I could see
was just the stump of a tree.

Driving under a sky that looks so sad and grey
with the windscreen wipers on to wipe the tears away.
