Blossom

Bare
Prunus branches
now covered in
vibrant shades of pink
blossom.

Late April

Much needed rain overnight
but today – so cold,
if it weren’t for the blossom
and new leaves on the trees
you might think autumn returned.

Garden

A turn around my
depressingly bare garden.
Oh look there – blossom!

Hair Cut

The cherry tree
has had a hair cut.

Now it looks as forlorn
as a newly shorn sheep.

But when the Spring comes
with its new leaves and blossom
the scars will be forgotten.

Flamboyant

Almost in full bloom,
magnificent magnolia blossom,
flamboyant and full of promise,
a beacon of light in dark times.

Magnolia Flush

Second
Magnolia flush;
blossom both bold
and delicate, late summer
beauty.

Delicate Beauty

Magnolia Blossom

Magnificent
delicate beauty
yet so bold,
palest pink, purple tinged.
Magnolia.

Return

On the eve of our holiday
I wonder if, on our return,
all the Spring blossom
will have died away.

I am going away today for a couple of weeks and will likely be off-line for much of that time due to no WIFI access. I have scheduled a review of “Dragonscale Leggings” by Freya Pickard to appear on Monday 16th May so please take a look. Normal service will resume around the beginning of June.

Bloom

First
blossom bursts
on cherry tree;
facing a dismal day
cheerfully.

New green leaves protect
the clusters of pale blossom;
delicate beauty.

Soul,
saddened at day’s start,
rejoices on seeing
cherry blossom
bloom.

Spring Trees

Spring trees slowly dress themselves
newly in emerald-green,
giving their delicate blossoms
a perfect setting.
