Delicate Beauty

Magnolia Blossom

Magnificent
delicate beauty
yet so bold,
palest pink, purple tinged.
Magnolia.

Return

On the eve of our holiday
I wonder if, on our return,
all the Spring blossom
will have died away.

I am going away today for a couple of weeks and will likely be off-line for much of that time due to no WIFI access. I have scheduled a review of “Dragonscale Leggings” by Freya Pickard to appear on Monday 16th May so please take a look. Normal service will resume around the beginning of June.

Bloom

First
blossom bursts
on cherry tree;
facing a dismal day
cheerfully.

New green leaves protect
the clusters of pale blossom;
delicate beauty.

Soul,
saddened at day’s start,
rejoices on seeing
cherry blossom
bloom.

Spring Trees

Spring trees slowly dress themselves
newly in emerald-green,
giving their delicate blossoms
a perfect setting.

Puff-balls

All of a sudden
cherry tree blossom
bursts like puff-balls
along the branches.

Confusion

Seasons confusion;
here and there a trace
of spring blossoms out of time,
while the first hint of autumn
touches lightly on the leaves.

Fragrance

The cloying fragrance
of weeping lime trees shedding
blossom fills the street.

Bumble Bees

Bumble bees abroad,
searching out pollen amongst
the springtime blossom.

Without the Sun

Without the sun
blossom loses lustre,
without the sun
songbirds sound less trill,
without the sun
the world seems melancholy,
a spring day without sun
is touched with winter’s chill.

Covered

Pyracantha;
covered with more blossom than ever
this summer, promising proliferation
of red winter berries.
