Libby signing books

Yes, that's me

Hi.  My close family and friends call me Libby so you may too.  I have set up this blog so that I can take part in the International Small Stone Writing Month during January 2011, but you never know I may carry on indefinitely – just keep checking in to find out!  If you wish to know more about the International Small Stone Writing Month just check the links on this site, especially http://ariverofstones.com.

I have been writing all sorts of things for as long as I can remember – I even got my writer’s badge in the Brownies!  At school I worked on our annual newsletter, at college I edited the weekly student rag and I now edit the bi-annual magazine for a sailing association my husband and I belong to.  Once I had a short story broadcast on BBC Radio’s “Listen With Mother” programme.  Mostly though, I write poetry and during 2010 I published my first collection of poems for children.  This is entitled “Barking At Nothing” and is being sold in aid of a children’s charity, The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust.  More about the book and the charity can be found by clicking on the various links in my blog roll. This will be my first attempt at writing “Small Stones” and I know I am going to enjoy it.

Why is this blog called “By The Wobbly Dum-Dum Tree”?  Well in our house all the best stories start “Once upon a time, down in Dingly Dell, by the Wobbly Dum-Dum Tree………..” and now down in Dingly Dell, by the wobbly Dum-Dum Tree I will be building a cairn of small stones.

I’m so glad you dropped by.  Please do so again soon.
