Trundling down the road comes
a barrel-shaped Romany Caravan,
drawn by a horse with its gentle clip-clopping,
holding up the traffic
but no-one really minding
as cars slowly pass, occupants smiling.

Love your write. We don’t have them here so must be more of a regular site there so people are quite use to them.

Sadly we don’t see them very often either these days, but this one passes our way about once a year. There are also a few places where people can hire them for holidays!

We’ve got the Amish here. So maybe not quite a Romany Caravan…but plenty of horse and buggies. Most people are quite patient. Thought there have been times when up to four or eight have been traveling to or from and event. Some are open (the courting buggies) and others not.

You probably see more of those than we do of these old caravans – most of the ‘travelling’ families here now have modern caravans.

The Amish buggy isn’t anything like a Caravan.
I guess everything gets modern…except the Amish.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vardo_(Romani_wagon) – adorned to the nines as it were. Amish buggies are plain for the ‘Plain folk’.
