Beech Tree

The staunch old beech tree
grown too big, too near the house.
Sad to see it go.

As a child we think every tree will live forever and don’t think of the consequences of planting too close to anything else. Which when they are small always seems like there is enough room…

This one was probably here before the house was built as the land was woodland. We have found many old stumps around the garden where trees were removed. I did love this tree though, but sadly far too big now for its location. We will probably plant something else further away – we have now lost our screening from the road, but will get more light in the conservatory/dayroom and fewer leaves in the guttering!

Difficult to see a tree come down for any reason. Brings back many memories.
