Mr. Magpie

The day is calm and cold and still.
On the doorstep Mr. Magpie takes his fill
of cat food put out for the stray
who hasn’t passed this way today.

Would love to see a photo! We don’t have magpies in this part of the world…I do enjoy reading about them!

Sorry, I didn’t take one – not sure I could get near enough without frightening it away, it would probably have gone as soon as I opened the door and taking photos through double glazing never works! Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magpie – there is a good picture of the Eurasian Magpie, like those I get in my garden, on the top right of the page – although it doesn’t fully do it justice as the tail has a lovely metallic blueish sheen to it.
