Waiting for news
that doesn’t come.
Around me life goes on.

you encapsulate “waiting” perfectly – I like the sad note of wistfulness and longing in this piece

With family being in the volunteer fire-service…I don’t wait any more.
As hubby says; “No news is good news.”
When he comes home from ‘whatever it was’ if he wants to talk – I listen.

But I can empathize with having to wait when you want to know. The joke in my house is that a hole would form in the Great Time Continuum if I were ever to know anything first. Most often I am always the last.
