Through the Gap

Golden sycamore leaves
shine like the sun
through the gap between
the evergreens.

It has been a really colourful autumn this year – the the colourfull leaves have hung around for longer than they did last year.

I was thinking that the hurricane would have taken down more leaves. But there were still quite a few left. Some of the bushes, protected by homes still have leaves – some fire red, and others brilliant yellow. On our walk the other day the little one and I disturbed a bunch of little birds feasting on some of the berries hidden within a few decorative bushes. 🙂

Your poems are a commentary of the hurricane and beyond to the hope that comes with the sun shining through as a metaphor of the resilience of nature.
