Fountains

Fountains in the road
Fountains in the road
as gutters fail to cope with
the torrential rain.

This was the scene at the bottom of our road yesterday. The photo doesn’t do justice to the reality, although I have seen more impressive fountains here in the past, with the manhole covers actually hovering above the water jets! This flash flooding soon disappeared with no lasting damage and was mild compared with other areas of the country that have fared much worse.

If only we could direct the storms to put out the wild fires…
some areas are flooded from hurricanes, others too dry and hundreds of homes are just…gone.

Like Jules, I’m wishing we could direct the storms to where the rain is needed. Great haiku. 🙂
